Dr C. Guillermo Couto

Dr. C. Guillermo Couto is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialties of Internal Medicine and Oncology. He has coauthored the best selling Small Animal Internal Medicine textbook (Elsevier), now on its 6th Edition, has published over 150 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and 250 book chapters. He has over 40 years of experience in clinical and comparative hematology, oncology, transfusion medicine, and clinical pathology, and is an expert in Greyhound and sighthound medicine.

Couto Veterinary Consultants (CVC) provides consultation and second-opinion on clinical patients by e-mail (coutovetconsultants@gmail.com), with follow up by telephone or videoconferencing, as needed. Consultations include review of clinical and clinicopathologic data, cytology and histopathology slides, and images.
Dr. Couto also provides in-clinic consultation and hands-on education on cytology, hematology, oncology, transfusion medicine, and sighthound medicine. Continuing education will be delivered via in-clinic visits, where Dr. Couto will conduct rounds on specific patients, and/or discuss specific topics via open discussion or presentations for the clinic staff. Consultation on setting up in-clinic laboratories and transfusion services are also provided. In the near future, CVC will be providing on-line clinical veterinary education through modular problem-oriented courses.
